Hi.. my mum constantly passes stools of normal consistency like 6 times a day. She also passes gas frequently. She has done a colonoscopy and its okay. She stopped eating everything one can think of that could cause the symptoms but she is not improving. what can I do next.

Hi,

Excessive flatulence can be caused by swallowing more air than usual or eating food that is difficult to digest. Gastroesophageal reflux, intestinal disorders like irritable bowel disease, ulcerative colitis or diverticulitis can be the cause. Intestinal infections can also cause frequent diarrhea.

Proton pump inhibitors along with probiotics should be taken regularly to reduce the symptoms. Simethicone can be taken to prevent excess bloating.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
