What Causes Frequent And Yellowish Green Diarrhea?

Hello, I am a 59 year old female who is having constant diarrhea. Since Dec. 10, 2010 I have not had a normal bowel movement, only diarrhea. Sometimes during the night I might go 25 times, during the day at least 6 times. It is watery, yellowish green sometimes, other times stringy and brown. I saw my primary physician Friday and have an appt with a GI doctor Thursday. I am going to try and get in earlier. Would love to know your thoughts.

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hello,

Chronic diarrhea possibly relates to inflammatory bowel condition, alteration in gut flora mechanics, gut motility issues from various causes.

In our clinic, after primary prescription of probiotics, GI specific antibiotics, I suggest patient for lab tests, ultrasound of abdomen and pelvis, colonoscopy for definite evaluation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Bhagyesh V. Patel
