I am a 62yr old female in excellent health and in good shape from regular exercise. I eat a well-balanced diet with lots of vegetables, grains and varied sources of non-meat protein. I have no digestive problems and have regular, normal bowel movements each morning after which I always wash carefully and thoroughly. Out of the blue, in the last month, I have developed a powerfully strong fishy odor in my rectal area. I went to the doctor who gave me medication for herpes (which I ve had ) and said she saw nothing unusual. I have had a small-medium external hemorrhoid for years that has never given me any problem and has never caused any odor. There is no itching, burning or other sensation -- only the odor. This smell is extremely powerful and revolting and I have no idea where it came from. Nothing in my diet or routine has changed. Can you help me? I will appreciate any information and/or advice you can provide regarding how to treat this terrible thing. Thank you.
