What Causes Foul Odor From A Nail With Blood Clot Post Injury?

I smashed my index finger in a door a couple of weeks ago. About 50% of the nail had blood under it, and the cuticle area was red with blood. The nail is growing normally, no pain, but there is an odor coming from my finger. My finger is very slightly warmer than the other fingers. Is it infected? Do I need to have the nail removed?
