What Causes Foul Mouth Odor In An Infant?

I know this is weird but why and can a babies saliva smell like semen? My 11 month old has 2 muslin comforters she sucks on when sleeping and if I smell it they smell like semen same smell when my water broke. I wash the blankies every 2 days. Can someone help? Thank you

Hi Dear,

Understanding your concern. The symptoms you mention in query are probably occurring due to 2 things. Firstly due to dehydration which is leading to poor hygiene of oral cavity and secondly due to adenoids, tonsillitis and systemic infection. I would suggest you to consult dentist for proper evaluation of the condition and to rule out other causes. Do warm saline rinses. Maintain proper oral hygiene. Give proper course of antibiotics to subside infection. Chew on sugar free candies and drink plenty of water.
