What Causes Foul Ear Discharges With Fluid And Pain?

Initially yellow foul smelling liquid was coming out , now clear liquid coming out of my ear from past 10 days. Consulted a doc yesterday, he inserted a dressing inside my ear after which its paining like anything. He gave me an antibiotic. PS: Infection is caused by dirty muddy water a month ago and I have a perforated ear from childhood.

ENT Specialist 's  Response
It could be an ear infection which is subsiding. Take the full course of the antibiotic and ask for a painkiller from your doctor; instead of a dressing, a cocktail ear drop formulation containing antibiotic, antifungal, steroid and local anesthetic would help.
Keep a clean cotton ball smeared with Vaseline at the opening of your ear when you're bathing or washing your face; don't insert a cotton bud or q- tip to clean the ear- it would make things worse.
When this infection settles down, consult an ENT for ear surgery to close the perforation or you could have the same problem again.
