What Causes Foot Pain, Swelling And Difficulty In Walking?

About two weeks ago my foot started to hurt the top is swollen but no visible bruising. I can barely walk on it. I have rested for two days straight but had to return to work where I am on my feet all day, The swelling is still there. Left foot, top, below pinky toe and the two next to it. The pad hurts in the same spot thru underneath.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Foot pain, swelling and difficulty in walking is commonly due to some injury in the foot, overuse, ligament or tendon tear, being overweight, sprains / strains, arteritis, etc. Other medical conditions that may cause it are water retention, deep vein thrombosis, varicose veins, heart / liver / kidney disease, diabetes, etc. You are suggested to get clinically examined by a GP. Get Urinalysis, blood and imaging tests done to detect the pathology causing you discomfort.

You will be treated accordingly. Control your blood glucose and weight at all cost. Cut on salty food, refined flour, oily junk food, trans fat, etc. Take NSAIDS, Naproxen or Combiflam, one SOS when needed. Give rest to your feet, keep it elevated on a stool when seated and on a pillow while on bed. Avoid standing for a long time. Compression stockings are helpful. Do exercises under a physiotherapist. Take natural diuretics and adequate water.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
