What Causes Food To Smell Like Rubbing Alcohol?

Some foods smell like rubbing alcohol. This started last weekend. I have also been extremely tired. When I come across something that smells like rubbing Alcohol it is so strong that it takes my breath. It is making it hard to be able to eat. What would be causing this?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Since when you're suffering from this problem??
Have you exposed this alcohol previously.
Have your neighbors or some one in the home may be using please check.
If no probably your suffering from parosmia may be seen cold or rhinitis or Alzheimer's disease or temporal lobe seizures or head injury or tumors Parkinsonism etc.
Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.
Please consult your ENT specialist/neurophysician he will examine and do MRI brain and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query.
Let me know if I can assist you further.
