Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have been taking 5 mg s of Ambien for several years now and I have been experiencing focus problems with my eyes. My vision is very sharp, though. I don t know if this is from Ambien or not but my main problem is with driving. The lanes start merging in with each other and the cars overlap. My opthamolagist says he doesn t see a problem.
Ambien (zolpidem) can cause visual disturbances in some patients. I would recommend my patients not to drive while the vision problems are sorted out. You can consult your care giver and ask for alternatives to zolpidem like Sonata(zaleplon) or clarify on whether it can be weaned off slowly. Hope the above information helps.
