What Causes Fluid Filled In Heart And Brain In Baby After C Section?

My friend just had a baby, two days ago. He was 5lb 6oz emergency c-section after 48 hours of labor. The baby has fluid around his heart and brain. He is in a nicu unit at a very small hospital, also he has been vented and cant control his body temp. What should she do??? I have suggested moving him to the 20 min away children s hospital.

Pediatrician 's  Response
HI,
Welcome to Hcm,
Its a difficult neonatal condition which can happen in multiple situations like infection and some not so common conditions. Very fact that baby is needing ventilator and not being able to maintain body temperature suggests that he is not very stable. I agree with you that baby should be in a better Nicu unit. However, baby should be in a clinical condition to be shifted to the hospital and the treating unit is the one who can decide on that. Hope this advice helps. Take care.
