What Causes Fluid Accumulation Around Heart And Lungs?

Hi My dad was sick took him to hospital had fluids around heart and lungs they removed fluids also then did a biopsy on his lung has mass and is cancer also more on lymph nodes he has been a heavy smoker and 14 years ago had liver disease from drinking has shunts in liver also heart is at 29 percent capacity they cant do chemo because of liver and heart His age is 75 they will do radiation doctor said 3-6 months radiation doctor was not sure but made it sound like he could have 1 to 2 years by the way fluids where not cancer

Hi

Fluid accumulation around heart and lungs can be due to cancer or infection such as tuberculosis.
I will advise a CT scan chest, sputum test and pleral fluid cytology test for him.
