What causes floaters in the eyes after an injury?

I had a fall a few days ago and hit my left eye. On the surface the swelling has gone down although some bruising remained on the upper eye lid. Since that incident, i am beginning to see a few more floaters and a blur spot that seems to float around my eye. Will this go away in a couple of days? Is there any cause for concern as I find them really irritating?

Ophthalmologist 's  Response
Hello! Welcome to HeathcareMagic!

Floaters are degenerative retinal portion floating in vetrious. There is no treatment for them. They are to be kept under watch and if suddenly there is an increase in floaters then it can indicate peripheral detachment. Retina surgeon may be consulted and laser can be applied for sealing peripheral detachment. it will be preventive a serious complication.

Hope this clarifies your concerns. Thank you for the query.

Take care
