What Causes Flatulence In Case Of Rectal Cancer?

I had rectal cancer removed in October 2008 and the reversal in July 2009.

I then started on Chemotherapy for secondary cancer in January 2010 until August 2010 with a rest and then restarted Chemotherapy in January this year.

I've been experiencing smelling flatulence since is this normal?

Can I do something to alleviate the problem?
