What Causes Flank Pain After Lithotripsy?

I had lithotripsy on my left kidney in February of this year. I have had no problems or pain, until about 4 days ago. My back and side hurt in the kidney area and the skin is tender to touch. I can t sleep on that side and its a constant ache with twitches. What could be the problem?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,
Thank you for your query.

Based on your symptoms, I would like to rule out another kidney stone.
I recommend :
-. A physician consult
-an ultrasound to check for stones or any abscess
-blood tests (complete blood count, kidney function tests)
-urine analysis and culture, if indicated

In the meantime, drink plenty of clear liquids, water, (if not contraindicated by any other Illness you may have like heart disease).
Avoid caffeine, sugary and carbonated drinks and spicy food.

If you see blood in the urine (more than a few drops) or experience severe abdominal pain, visit the ER right away.

Hope this helps.
Please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
Wish you good health
