What Causes Flaky Skin At The Site Of Cortisone Injection?

My daughter had a cortisone injection on the knuckle at the base of her little toe for a lump of inflammation. It s 2 months later and the lump is gone but there s a rash that s itchy and the skin is broken right at the injection site. Is this a common reaction? What should we treat it with so it will heal? Thank you Julie

HI

No, not a common reaction to the injection and this sounds like an inflammatory eczema problem. For now you can try a cortisone cream three times a day but if that doesn't take care of it she'll need to see a dermatologist about it
