What Causes Fishy Smelling Urine?

hi my daugherter is 8years old and her urine has a very strong smell sometimes fishy and sometimes like an antiseptic smell she has had a few water infections but the past few times it has come back negitve but it really smells she also has had 3 kidney test to look for scaring but they are fine. Just really concerned as she is about the smell so what could it be

Hi,

Usually concentrated urine will smell strongly during dehydration.intake of food like sulpur containing food and sprouts and cabbage may cause fishy smell in the urine.

If your daughter routinely passes fishy smell urine after normal diet like cereals, milk and milk products and fruits then you should take 24 hrs urine test to check for other pathological cause. Should correlate with other clinical symptoms also.
