What Causes Fever, white Spots On Tonsils With Swollen Glands?
My husband has had a fever running about 100-101 for 7 days. He has been on Zythromax for 4 days and Prednisone for 4 days, but yesterday the doctor switched him to Bactram. He has had white spots on his tonsils for 7 days and his glands are so swollen he can hardly swallow. The doctor did a throat culture and he said it was positive for strep, but I saw the test and I did not see a second pink line. Could he have something other than strep? Thanks, Brenda
Your husband might be suffering from follicular tonsillitis. It is caused by infections and in this case by streptococcus. Bactrim is the treatment of choice here. Avoid giving him anything cold and keep him hydrated. Also, salt water gargles twice a day would really help and kindly rush him to the hospital if you see any warning signs.
