What Causes Fever, Yellow Mucus, Coughing, Sore Throat And Blisters On Throat?

I have been sick with fever, yellow mucus, coughing, sore throat and now my fever has broken. However, I have tiny blisters on the back of my throat and the front of my neck hurts and appears to be swollen. This has been going on for two days now. I do not have any lumps and I do not have tonsils. The neck pain does not go away when I take ibuprofen or use ice packs. What could be wrong?

ENT Specialist 's  Response
Viral/bacterial pharyngitis presents as fever, sore throat, cough and clinically characterized by presence of inflammatory exudate in throat.Herpetic pharyngitis is characterized by blisters in throat.Lymph node enlargement leads to neck pain.Another possiblity is infectious mononucleosus.where similar symptoms overlap.Treatment starts with warm saline gargles, plenty of fluids, antibiotics (amoxycillin 500 if not allergic) twice daily for 7 days.Failure to resolve usually needs higher antibiotic after consulting your doctor
