What Causes Fever With Frequent And Harsh Cough?
Hi, on Feb 25th, I developed a fever for 6 days with aches/pains, headache and sore throat. It eventually turned into a cough. Yesterday I developed a fever again and my cough is now very frequent and harsh. I am unable to stop coughing until I gag. I work in a hospital and there seems to be a pandemic at my work place, with 50% of staff and patients being very sick. A few tested positive for mycoplasma pneumonia but mine, along with multiple others, came back negative. Any idea what is going on?

All your symptoms are definitely suggestive of an infection that needs proper management.
- Get the blood tests.
- Throat swab tests.
- X-ray of chest and sinuses.
Consult a doctor and get started on proper antibiotic, symptomatic and supportive treatment in the form of cough syrup, anti-inflammatory medicines and as required. Follow up regularly. Take rest if possible as your continuous exposure in hospital will not allow early recovery, in fact may increase your problems. Take Povidone iodine gargles.
