What Causes Fever Post Tooth Extraction?

I had my wisdom teeth removed Friday at 11am, and it is now Sunday at 1:25 pm. After all the things they pumped me full of during surgery wore off I felt wonderful. Today, however I feel like I am coming down with a cold.

Since surgery I have been taking ibuprofen and my prescribed antibiotics. Before surgery I was around someone who had a cold at my work, do you think I just caught that cold or do you think I have an infection? Should I be worried?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC...

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern..

As per your complain infection after tooth extraction is of bacterial origin while cold is Viral in nature, so in case if you are catching cold it is probably due to getting exposed to virus and it is not due to infection caused due to extraction as you are already taking antibiotics that can very well fight with bacteria..
You need not to worry and continue taking your post extraction medication and for cold you can take decongestant like Sudafed twice a day, antihistamines like allegra 60 mg twice a day, steam inhalation and decongestant nasal sprays, you will get relief in 3 to 4 days..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards..
