What Causes Fever, Headache And Eye Pain To A 6 Year Old?

My daughter is 6 and has had a 100.4 fever for 4 days. She seemed fine for a day and now she has a headache fever is back and she is complaining that her eyes hurt.

Her 3 year old brother was just taken in for a 103.4 fever, no strep, said it was viral. When should I bring her in or is it ok to wait a few more days?

Hello. Thank you for your question. Most illnesses in children that involve fevers are viral. Headache and eye pain are non-specific symptoms. That means that these symptoms could appear in many different illnesses including viral. Depending on whether you feel your daughter is improving, or getting worse, or staying the same, 2-3 days of fever is enough to warrant a visit to the doctor. Though it still may be viral, it's a good idea to get checked out.
