My son is 26 and Autistic. He has been having problems for the last year or so with wax build up in his ears. Hi primary care physician just keeps flushing his ears and has treated with antibiotic drops when they show signs of infection. Currently, he is sleeping all day and running a fever and is itching his right ear, as usual, with some intensity. His left ear, however, is presenting a white buildup which I haven t seen before now and it is extremely painful to touch. We just saw his PCP two days ago and asked if we should think about seeing an ear, nose and throat specialist and his response was that it does not look infected but he could see where my son had been putting his finger in his ear and shaking it. He says he will see him again in two weeks for another flush. The fever and the white buildup were not present at that time. Should I take him to be seen today with the fever and buildup?
