What Causes Fever And Sore Throat?

I recently have been running a fever with sore throat. My glands in my neck are really swollen and all of my gland areas are red & rashy looking. (ex. under arms, under breasts, groin area, and back) I went to my Dr. today and they did a culture and it came back negative for strep. I m not congested in my chest or head. What do you think it could be?

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain the symptoms of fever, sore throat, swollen glands and rash seems to be most probably due to viral infection and as strep throat is due to bacteria it has come to be negative..

I would suggest you to consult a Physician and get evaluated and a blood test and throat swab culture to rule out for virus will help in diagnosis..

In case if it is confirmed it will resolve once the virus completes its cycle in your body..
You can be advised supportive therapy like taking fever educing medicines like Tylenol and Ibuprofen..
You can also do warm saline gargles to reduce swelling of the glands..
Do cool compresses over the rashes..
Sip plenty of warm water and suck throat lozenges..
Avoid spicy and chilled foods ..
Take sufficient rest.
Chew a Vitamin C pellet as it boosts up immunity..
