What Causes Fever And Chills After Removal Of A Paraganglioma?

my son just had a paraganglioma removed from his spine on January 18th. For the past 8 days he was in the hospital with fever chills low white blood count(1.8) and high liver count (thought to be fatty liver). He was on high doses of antibiotics which they took him off of after the liver started going high. His white count came back up to 4.6 before we came home and his live numbers went down by 20. he now feels bad again with chills a temperature of 100.8 and general fatigue with aches and pains. got any idea what could be causing this?
