What Causes Fever Along With Vomiting And Throat Ache?

My 6 year old son tested positive for the flu last Friday. The doctor gave us all Tamiflu and we started taking it Friday night. Sunday morning, my 5 year old son became sick. He was running fever, throwing up, complaining his throat hurt. I carried him to the doctor Monday morning. He tested negative for the flu and strep. They prescribed him promethazine dm and Zofran tablets. Hes been fever free for 24 hours without medicine. Yesterday evening he started getting croupy and sounded as if he was loosing his voice. Today he is also croupy and has a cough and looks like his face is swollen a little. He has allergies real bad anyways but will the promethazine dm help that?

Hello,

He was diagnosed as flu positive, continue and complete course of tablet Tamiflu. Other causes are tonsillitis, laryngitis, epiglossitis, sore throat, or other respiratory tract infections.

You can give syrup Ibugesic, syrup Ondesetron as per baby weight. Keep him hydrated and also give him steam inhalation and warm water gargles.

I will suggest you to follow up with detailed history or consult with pediatrician for detailed examination.
