What Causes Fever Along With Chills And Headache?

Hello Doctor. This is the first time I m using WebMD to check my symptoms. I had a fever and chills Monday evening and yesterday, up to 102 degrees. Today, fever is fluctuating between 99-100 degrees. I feel weak, have bad headaches and a hacking cough with phlegm. I went to urgent care yesterday and they prescribed cough medicine with codeine and an inhaler (I haven t used the inhaler yet). The Physician Assistant said it s some kind of virus, not pneumonia nor bronchitis. I don t feel better today. I stayed home from work yesterday and today. So, I m wondering, could this become bronchitis, or anything else? I m trying to return to work tomorrow if possible. Thank you. Talene

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

The symptoms are sounding to be viral or bacterial infection of upper respiratory tract. Proper intake of antibiotic, decongestant, steroid (in some cases) and other supportive care of hydration, inhalation therapy works best for speedy recovery.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Purva Patel,
