What Causes Feeling Of Having Lump In Throat?

I swallow a piece of chip and I thought I was chocking but I could breathe. I stuck my finger down my throat and that got it down. Don t think it s still in my throat. Now it really hurts it feels like a lump in my throat so I tired hot water thinking that the chip was still in my throat. But that didn t help. Then I thought maybe my throat is just scratched. What do I do to keep it clean? How long does it take to heal? What foods should I eat? Please let me know!

General & Family Physician 's  Response
HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

It is likely that the throat is scratched. This can cause residual pain or discomfort.

It would be best not to use any hot water or hot foods because they would further traumatize the area.
Cool liquids and foods would be best.

Using softer foods instead of hard foods that may grate the area would also be important.

The use of an anti inflammatory pain killer to help reduce the discomfort and inflammation in the area would be best eg naproxen, cataflam, ibuprofen

I hope this helps
