What Causes Fatty Liver?

Yes, my ALT went up for the first time. It was 37. My doctor says it might be fatty liver, but I also read that acetaminophen can also affect the liver. I have been taking about two (500mg) tablets /day because I have shoulder pain and I am not supposed to take any other type of pain relievers . Please let me know if there is any validity to my information. Thank you!

Hello,

You should know that high lipids can cause fatty liver and using a lot of Acetaminophens can affect the liver.

But to define better the reason you should make an abdominal ultrasound and should test the level of lipids.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Monika Dede, Infectious Diseases Specialist
