Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Yes, my ALT went up for the first time. It was 37. My doctor says it might be fatty liver, but I also read that acetaminophen can also affect the liver. I have been taking about two (500mg) tablets /day because I have shoulder pain and I am not supposed to take any other type of pain relievers . Please let me know if there is any validity to my information. Thank you!

What Causes Fatty Liver?
Hello, You should know that high lipids can cause fatty liver and using a lot of Acetaminophens can affect the liver. But to define better the reason you should make an abdominal ultrasound and should test the level of lipids. Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further. Take care Regards, Dr Monika Dede, Infectious Diseases Specialist
