What Causes Fatigue, dry Cough And A Flushed Face?

My husband, who is 52, has not been feeling well for a few weeks. It started as stomach upset and diarrhea due to work-related stress. It has calmed down with large doses of Pepto tablets. Now he has a general feeling of sickness. He starts in the morning feeling somewhat okay, but by 11 or 12, he feels fatigued, he has a dry cough in his chest, feels cold, but he becomes very flushed from cheeks down to the base of his neck. He has not shown a temperature, but continues to feel unwell. He s sleeping more, although many evenings his sleep is fitful. Any thoughts as to what is going on?

Pulmonologist 's  Response
Thanks for your question on Health Care Magic.
I can understand your concern.
By your history and description, possibility either lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI) or bronchitis is more.
Because in both these conditions dry cough, fatiguability, cold feeling etc are seen.
So better to consult pulmonologist and get done
1. Clinical examination of respiratory system
2. Chest x ray
3. PFT (Pulmonary Function Test).
Chest x ray is needed to rule out LRTI.
PFT is must for the diagnosis of bronchitis.
He may need antibiotics, antihistamines and anti inflammatory drugs.
Inhaled bronchodilators and inhaled corticosteroid (ICS).
Don't worry, he will be alright.
First diagnose himself and than start appropriate treatment.
Hope I have solved your query. Wishing good health to your husband. Thanks.
