What Causes Fatigue And Pain Around The Surgical Site Of Fistulotomy?

Hi I had a fistulotomy two weeks ago. I was getting better but Friday I had sudden worse pain and all weekend I have had low grade fever and fatigue, plus pain in my wound and left buttock. I saw my doctor Friday and he put me on an antibiotic. The pain is better but not gone. I d say it s still pretty intense. Plus I m still tired constantly, and I m concerned. He says the wound looks ok but the discharge is thhicker than it should be. Is this something that takes a while to heal? I have missed two weeks of my job and am hesitant to miss more.

I have gone through your question and understood your concerns. It appears to some sort of infection at the fistulotomy wound as you said the discharge is getting thicker. Patient are initially treated with prophylactic antibiotic therapy after such operation like tab Augmentin (Co-amoxiclav), tab Flagyl and sitz bath with pyodine in warn saline. As you are having pain and discharge after 2 weeks of operation. Discharge/Pus should be sent for culture sensitivity to get idea about the causative organisms as well as there sensitivity to antiobiotics. This will help your treating surgeon to prescribe the most suitable antibiotics. Wishing you rapid recovery and early return to work.
