What Causes Fatigue And Abdominal Pain While Having High Bilirubin Levels?

Hello I went for medical just few days back, Pathologist said your bilirubin is high and platelet count is decreased. So I asked Doctor about which bilirubin, He said indirect bilirubin increases but total and direct bilirubin are normal. So again I went for USG for further more confirmation,USG indicates everything normal even liver also. As clinically I dont have any symptoms like fatigue, pallor, fever, abdominal pain, abnormal digestion, nothing. So, what could be the cause for increaesing bilirubin???

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello dear
I understand your concern
Total bilirubin = indirect + direct bilirubin
So if any of the bilirubin will increase, total will also increase.
So I think there is some miscommunication between you and your doctor.
Indirect bilirubin will increase in the following condition:
Hemolytic anemia, destruction of the RBC, bleeding in the skin and blood.
So i advise you to go for other blood tests like haptoglobin, LDH, full liver profile, haemoglobin, CBC etc to rule out the other condition.
Hope this may help you
