What Causes Fast Heart Beat Followed By Fainting?
I m a 61 y/o thin female, smoker. An hour ago while shopping, my vision started to narrow and I started feeling faint, then my heart began to beat rapidly, followed by some shortness of breath, and a pain between my sternum and clavicle. It s gradually gotten better. What was that?

The symptoms are more likely of low blood pressure and as you are smoker and 61year female, it could sign of to be mayo cardiac constriction or any other blood vessel vasoconstriction.
I advice you to consult a cardiologist and get the ECG and ECHO. I advice you slowly give up smoking and healthy life style modification to avoid this type of episodes.
