What Causes Farting During The Intercourse?

Dear Doctor(s): I am a 28 year old single white Female, and I have a problem! Any insights or advice you may have, would REALLY be Appreciated. I have a Masters Degree, and I teach College level Science. I do not lead a stressed-out Life. I have no known health problems, and I have Physical-Exams every year. I have discussed my problem with my Female-GYN & my Internal Medicine Doctor, and every year they tell me the same thing-- We can t find nothing wrong with you. MY Problem: Every time I have sex with my boyfriend, I Fart {during penetration}; usually two of three times. Every Time I try to suppress them, they get louder. Even when I just go with the flow and don t think about farting, they happen anyway! We have had sex in many different positions, and I am always well lubricated. Even so, they are always loud enough for both of us to hear! Most of the times, they have no odor--if you can believe that! My Boyfriend and I Love each other and we plan to be Married before the end of the year! But, I worry that this will become a negative! I know that he has never told anyone about my problem, and I really Love & appreciate him for that!! Of course we have talked about it, and he always tells me not to worry. Your condition is safe with me. I Love you for the Great Woman you are, and you make Love with me so well that it doesn t even matter to me ! But I still do worry. I just wish I knew what was causing it! With that knowledge and his acceptance of me, I would then feel a whole lot better about it. Lastly, my Doctors have given me every test that they know of--and they say that they can t find the cause. I ve had a Colonoscopy, and Barium Ennemas, and Digestive exams, lots of Blood Work, and Cultures {looking for exotic bugs}, etc. Nada! Sincerely, Frannie Carmen YYYY@YYYY I just remembered one last set of facts that I feel you should know about me: During my entire sex Life, I have always been the one to experience {what we called} pussy farts -- which happen during vigorous thrusting! I assume that you know what those are. In my case, they occurred when I was well-lubricated AND when I wasn t. I am telling you this because what I am experiencing with my Boyfriend are NOT pussy farts. Thanks A LOT! Please find it in your Heart to answer me-- in any manner you choose!

Hello Frannie Carmen and welcome.

What is reassuring to me as a doctor here is that all the possible tests have been conducted to look for abnormalities and nothing has been found. In such a scenario, I would only recommend simple therapy to control the increased gas production in your gastrointestinal tract.

I would actually have preffered to have a two-discussion with you, so if you can then utilize our premium service and write to me.

For now, use my suggestions:

+Drink plenty of water
+Have 5-6 smaller meals a day instead of 2-3 larger ones
+Have antacids like ranitidine on a daily basis to see if it helps release the gas more often
+Avoid alcohol
+Avoid carbonated drinks
+Eat fresh food
+Avoid lentils and other foods like radishes rhat can cause an increased amount of gas
+Avoid smoking

Write to me with a list of medications you use and your usual diet. As sexual intercourse is best enjoyed when it occurs spontaneously and not planned, I would recomemend being ready always. But if at all you do get a chance, then visit the loo and be patient so you can release gas or even feces prior to sexual intercourse.

Hope this helps.

Best wishes.
