What Causes False Positive Test Results For Amphetamines?

HI I am currently in a treatment center and yesterday I tested positive for amphetamines.. I havnt taken any ! I have been clean for 3 months and that wasn t even my drug of choice, they texted me twice and had same result both times .. I am on a lot of other medication aswell and some from the hospital which I wouldn t normally have as my gull bladder is inflamed and need to have it out at some point. I am waiting for staff to hear back from the company who supplies the tests, if it comes back that it s not that il n discharged today, please help!

Hello,

It is possible with the drugs like

-phenylephrine(cold medicine)

-1,3 Dimethylamylamine (DMAA). DMAA has sympathomimetic activity and is an ingredient in some dietary and weight-loss supplements.

-weight-loss supplements, bupropion, which is used as an antidepressant and smoking cessation aid.

-Also is structurally similar to amphetamine and has been associated with false positive screenings.

-Chlorophenylpiperazine, a metabolite of trazodone, has shown has false positive results.

-Labetalol, promethazine, chlorpromazine, and metformin also have been associated with false positive amphetamine screenings.

-Fenofibrate was identified as the cause of a false positive urine amphetamine screening in a patient after 2 separate immunoassays were positive.

So please check it out for possibilities then wean off above drugs under your doctor guidance then repeat above test you may get positive results.
