What causes fainting in a diabetic patient?

My husband has been blacking out or passing out. He is a diabetic, has high cholesterol and triglycerides but is on medicine for all of that. He has been in the hospital 3 times in the past year for surgeries because of his diabetes. In January he had another fem-pop. He has been going blank on me and I was wondering if you might have any suggestions.

Hello,

Your husband has history of diabetes & high cholesterol & triglyceride. He is presently having fainting attacks.

Such attacks can be due to hypoglycemia or sudden rise of glucose level in the blood. Sometimes very low blood pressure or extremely high blood pressure can cause such symptoms.

Syncope is another medical condition that causes fainting attacks due to developing cardiovascular problems.

You are suggested to get your husband clinically assessed by a cardiologist to detect (lipid function test, stress test, Ecg, X-ray, Echocardiography, etc) any developing cardiac disease. Get him treated at the earliest.

The cardiologist may refer to a GP, to control DM, BP, etc. In the meantime, he should stay away from addictions if any & do regular exercises.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
