What Causes Failure Of Balloon Method In Stopping Nose Bleed?
I still have three of four wisdom teeth. Two on my left side and the other on the top right side. I have for a second time in about ten years, my left nostril started bleeding after several hard sneezes. I got it under control the first time. And then about 24 hours later in the evening, I tried to gently blow my nose, and ended up in the Emergency room. The Dr. tried the balloon method which wouldn t stay in and ended up using a nosebleed tampon. Concerning the balloon method, he wondered if I d had any surgery done, and NO was the answer. What would cause the obstruction and the balloon method to fail?

The most probable reason for getting the failure for balloon method to fail for controlling the bleeding would have been a spur in the nasal septum. This is sharp so undulating the balloon around it , sufficient enough to exert pressure would have been insufficient.
Or the other reason being the bleeder was hiding with the spur and hence not amenable,
