Hi I am experiencing facial pan n my right side of my face . The lower jaw line especially from the back of my mouth inside. My tongue from the right back side hurts also. Sometimes I can’t touch my face too painful. Sometimes I think I have a toothache but it’s not my teeth. Underneath my tongue feels like a thick mass is there. What am I experiencing ?
As per your query, you have symptoms of facial pain on right side and underneath tongue which seems to be due to abscess formation secondary to a tooth infection and due to facial space infection.
Minor injury to mucosa due bite, acidic food, nerve impingement, poor oral hygiene could be contributing factors in this. Need not to worry. Usually, they resolve by themselves in a few days. I would suggest you avoid spicy food and acidic drink. Do warm saline rinses.
You should use an antiseptic mouthwash like chlorhexidine and brush your teeth twice a day. If the condition does not resolve in 4-5 days then consult a dentist for proper examination and to rule out other conditions and a doctor may prescribe oral antibiotics.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. Harry Maheshwari
