What Causes Facial Hair Growth After Taking Cymbalta?

I have been taking cymbalta for almost a month to aid with extreme back and hip pain from a fall over 4 years ago. In the past years I have tried steroids, injections and over a half dozen pain meds. So far the cymbalta seems to be helping. Unfortunately I just noticed facial hair growing in manly patterns. Also have gotten 2 painful lip blisters that have left scars. Do these current side effects not make me a good candidate for cymbalta?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
Thanks for posting in HCM.
I understand your concern.
Cymbalta has the composition of duloxetine, which is used to treat anxiety and depressive disorders in adults.
Facial hair growth has not been a known side effect reported with the use of this medication. Lip blisters could have been due to some allergic reaction followed by infection, which could not have been caused due to intake of this drug.
Hence, you need to get evaluated by getting your hormone levels checked and consult Psychiatrist for assistance in this regard.
Hope the information provided would be useful.
All the best.
