What Causes Eye Redness And Swelling Of The Tongue With A Thin Coating?

Hi. I awoke this morning with redness in my right eye. Slightly irritated and runny, but not painful. I latter realized that my tongue felt ever so slightly swollen and felt as if it had a thin coating on. (Food felt odd in my mouth). I eventually realized that my mouth was not opening the same on the right side as it was on the left. I did spend time in a sauna last night, and my right eye became irritated because of the temperature being higher than normal.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Your symptoms seem to be related to a viral infection.

I recommend using anti-inflammatory medication to reduce inflammation such as Ibuprofen.

I also recommend using artificial tears to treat eye irritation.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
