General & Family Physician 's  Response
Dear Annie, Hi & Welcome.
I can understand your concern.
Ramipril (an angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitor) seems to be responsible for the cough.
Dry cough, swelling of the lips or eye lids, & itching are some of the common side effects of angiotensin converting enzyme inhibitors like Ramipril. Hence, i would advise you to discontinue this medication and consult your treating physician to prescribe an alternate effective but a safer drug to lower your high BP like Losartan or Valsartan which do not cause dry cough.
Hope this will help you.
