What Causes Excruciating Pain In The Leg When Diagnosed With Hyperthyroidism?

I have Graves disease and hyperthyroidism. I ve been having pain and numbness in my left leg for quite some time now from my butt to my foot. It s getting worse, and the pain is excruciating sometimes. Why is this happening and should I be concerned?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi welcome to health care magic...

Muscle ache usually occurs in hyperthyroidism as a result of myopathy...

But as you have numbness also and radiating pain below groin, so better to get examined for scitica like neurological condition if present... If needed spinal MRI can be done...

Neurological examination and blood HB estimation also done...

Serum B12 and calcium level also checked and corrected accordingly....

Correct grave disease with drug like methimazole for that and adjust dose according to TSH level...

Take care

Advise : Physician consultation for examination....

Hope this will help
