What Causes Excessive Thirst While Going Through Menopause?

I am 53, and am going through menopause, I have hot flashes, but just recently I am so thirsty that I just can t quench it. Is there a connection or should I be more concerned about the thirst issue. Have not been tested for diabetes, but my build type does not lean towards that.

OB & GYN Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Women getting diabetes is very common during menopause, because of hormonal imbalance, so that could be one of the reasons for increased thirst. It is advisable to get your sugars and HbA1c tested to rule out diabetes.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Rishma Lakhani, OB & GYN Specialist
