What causes excessive sweating?

For the past year or so my husband has been sweating profusely at night, and it s not a typical body odor smell. ..It s a potent sour smell that stains the sheets and blankets. We thought it was from him drinking energy drinks so he stopped drinking them about 4 months ago, and the night sweats are still as bad as ever. He is not on any medications

Well come to HCM
Excessive sweating without any clinical complaints like, fatigue, chest pain, dyspnea, with medical history of hypertension, diabetes, thyroid disease, is nothing to worry, but it is advisable to ruled out above stated conditions if not done yet, if this turned unremarkable then this is nothing to worry, hope this information helps, take care.
