Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I am a 65 year old female. 5 1 , 175 pounds. I have been diagonised with a mass on my throid which is benine. I have heart palpatations and have been in the hospital and have been diagnosed with SVT. I am scheduled for an EP study soon to determine the cause. I have extreme sweating and get very hot when I do much physical. My endrocronolist wants me to check back with her again in april. My question is : could the throid be causing all of these problems? Should I be more aggressive with my endocronolist to do more before I do an EP study and possibly get a pace maker or go on meds for the possible SVT? Please respond at YYYY@YYYY thanks
Thyroid abnormalities might cause arrhythmia. Go for ft3, ft4 and TSH. SVT needs regular treatment with injectable adenosine and oral Diltiazem. Ep study is a routine test. A pacemaker is inserted in bradyarrhythmias when the heart rate is low and it generates extra beats. No role of a pacemaker in SVT.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. AJEET SINGH, General & Family Physician
