What Causes Excessive Stomach Gas During Periods?

I am 20 yr old female and get ovarian cysts often. I am on day one of my period and have felt like I have to have a bm all day but every time I try there is just a little bit of clear liquid that comes out. I have also felt like there was a lot of air and movement in my stomach and intestines but have not passed very much gas. What can cause this?
