What Causes Excessive Sleepiness And Blood In Stool?
My son has recently been sleeping more than normal and tonight he had a bowel movement with a small amount of frank blood on the stool. when I asked if he had pain he said his stomach hurt, I also asked if he was having indigestion and he said yes. However he has disabilities due to stopping breathing when he was born and so I don t know if I should just keep an eye on him tonight and call his doctor tomorrow or take him to the emergency room. When I press on his tummy he does not act like it is really hurting him.

Mild sleepiness and little blood with stools and abdominal pain or loose stools can happen with common gastrointestinal viruses and are generally self limiting and improve within a few days as long as you keep him hydrated and let him rest.
If the symptoms are getting worse, he gets more sleepy or the blood in stool is more abundant then other conditions should be suspected and he should see the doctor as soon as possible.
