Hi Doctors I have excessive salvias and it is affecting my ability to speak clearly. I have to constantly swallow it or spit it out otherwise I will speak with some difficulties and a thick accent. I have big tonsillitis but they do not hurt. Is there any link between having tonsillitis and excessive saliva? What is the best course of treatment? Thank you very much in advance and I hope that you can help me in some ways.
Thanks for your query, I have gone through your query. The excessive salivation can be because of the tonsilitis. Most of the time the salivation increases, whenever there is any infection in the oral cavity like, gingivitis, periodontitisand abscess. The other possible cause can be failure to swallow the saliva properly due to neuromuscular problems. It can also be because certain drugs like pilocarpine and bethanicol(cholinergic drugs). Nothing to be panic, consult a oral physician and get it evaluated. You can take anticholinergic drus like atropine, but it results in complications like reduced salivation. So consult a oral physician and take an opinion. I hope my answer will help you, take care.
