What Causes Excessive Abdominal Cramps And Alternating Diarrhea And Constipation?

I have been to the doctor many times over my stomach. But I seem to not be getting any answers. You see ever sense I have gotten my galblader taken out when I was 14, which would make it 18 years ago I have been having problems with my stomach, I have excessive cramping, diarrhea and sometimes constipation. My stoll has been bloody here lately. My doctor just writes it off as hemrodes. But the blood is in my stool not on top or even in the toilet. It scares me because I have been having this problem for a very long time. And it also depends on what eat that triggers these problems. Please let me know what is going on so I can get some relief and should I get reffred to a specialist about this. Thanks!

Hello,

There are two different problems you mentioned:

1.After gallbladder removal side effects

2. Hemorrhoid problems, only if your doctor has visited you and has seen objectively the hemorrhoid.

You may: avoid drinks containing caffeine, such as coffee and tea, avoid foods that make the problems worse, such as spicy or fatty foods, gradually increase your intake of fibre – good sources of fibre include fresh fruit and vegetables, wholegrain rice, wholewheat pasta and bread, seeds, nuts and oats.

Also drink plenty of water. Diarrhoea is a problem after eating fatty foods. Abdominal pain, bloating and diarrhoea. These symptoms may be worse if you eat a lot of fat and protein and fewer vegetables.

I am sure that with these suggestions your health will improve. If the blood persists in stool after all this change in your diet, pleases consult a gastroenterologist.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Suzana Zharri, General & Family Physician
