What Causes Enlargement Of Spleen And TLC Around 3 Lakhs?

Hello Doctor,I am Neha from India,My husband got spleen Enlargement in back 2 days,He is feeling pain in left side above abdomen and also in shoulder.we thought this is cervical pain,He is taking physiotherapy for this,But no relief in this. feeling very heaviness after eating any food.We got endoscopy and dr. says its spleen enlargement .His TLC is very high around 3 lakhs.Dr. suggested some test CBC,Born marrow,BCR ABL Quantitative. His weight was 90+kg. in 2010,he lost his weight around 20 kg. with workout,but now he lost 1.5 kg. in 1 month.I checked this on internet some are same symptoms of leukemia but not all symptoms are same.Can you please clear me leukemia is the type of cancer?is this easily controlled? Is it cured?Is it possible that its only infection due to spleen enlarged?I am waiting for the reply--Thanks

Hello Neha, Leukemia is a type of blood cancer. It may cause Splenic enlargement and WBC count >2Lakhs. The prognosis depends on the type and stage of leukemia. Most of them are curable. I suggest you wait for the test results before coming to a conclusion. Very rarely severe infections may also cause high WBC level.
