What Causes Elevation In The Liver Enzymes In An Alcoholic?

My liver enzymes were elevated during a recent lab test. I have been drinking daily for the past year. How long will it take to reverse the last results if I didn t drink anymore drinks. I often drank 4-5 drinks a day. Should I be concerned with any major damage? My Dr. wants to retest in 3 months.

Hi,

Your symptoms seem to be neurogenic due to compression of nerves supplying the affected area. An XRay/MRI of cervical & lumber spine (for tingling sensation in legs) would reveal the cause behind. Cervical spondylitis when confirmed would be treated under an expert spinal surgeon by medications, exercises, physiotherapy or surgery on few classes. Leg symptoms can be due to vitamin B12 deficiency or spinal ordisc problem at lumber spine followed by specific treatment by spinal surgeon.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Vasudha Jayant Athavale, General & Family Physician
